Our Working Culture
-
We work hard to enable the people we support to achieve their goals. When the going gets tough, we stick in there. But we are also committed to balanced lives. As we work towards good lives for the people we support, we ensure staff do not work excessive hours and have time for themselves and others outside of work.
-
We are building a culture around freedom and responsibility, which means we are self-disciplined people willing to go to extreme lengths to fulfil our commitments. We know how to conduct ourselves professionally, gently, and thoughtfully at all times, with no exceptions.
-
We follow through on initiatives and own the consequences of our actions.
-
We support one another in developing and utilising our skills and abilities effectively to benefit those we serve. Therefore, we don't jump to do everything ourselves, but rather look at developing and utilising the skills of others.
-
We share specific, private information on a "need-to-know" basis and within supervised systems. We do not gossip about others or create negative reputations about the people we support and our work colleagues.
-
We rigorously debate our differences of opinion and view debates as a healthy and positive experience. We can engage in constructive debates, and all members feel comfortable participating. Once a decision has been made, we work wholeheartedly towards the agreed decision.
-
We make a habit of listening to each other and not offering our views or solutions until the other person has finished speaking, reflecting our respect for one another.
-
We recognise and understand each other’s differences, priorities, and styles, and we seek to use these to work as a team and support each other in good and bad times. We focus on cooperation and always come to a resolution, not a compromise. We ask for help when needed and are compassionate to people who ask for our help.
-
Appreciation and encouragement are great motivators. We strive to identify opportunities to praise and encourage one another, and we celebrate our successes.
-
We are consistent with our actions, so the people we support feel comfortable when dealing with us. We act and decide on what makes a real difference to the quality of life of those we support. When necessary, we make hard and painful decisions to ensure Soulvable Moments works efficiently and effectively.
-
We have systems and resources in place to enable our staff to work autonomously and responsibly. Staff are free to seek opportunities, innovate, and find the best support options for the individual, their family, and their caregivers.
-
We are willing and keen to take calculated risks and ensure that we learn from every experience, both the good and the bad. We apply and respect the Principles of Risk Management and Risk Enablement.
-
We are creative and are willing to try new ways of doing things. We make mistakes, but learn from them after they occur to ensure they do not happen again. We all act as coaches to help others make intelligent decisions about their future, remembering it is theirs. We try to impart practical, usable knowledge rather than just theory.
-
We view life as a journey. We believe we are being propelled towards the future rather than pushed by the past. Life is to be appreciated and enjoyed. We aim to create an atmosphere of fun and happiness for everyone to enjoy.
