"With the introduction of PACE plans within the NDIS, Improved Relationships funding is now referred to as Behaviour Support. It remains classified as Capacity Building Funding, but the budget breakdown is no longer provided within the plan.
Funds allocated to the Behaviour Support category cannot be reallocated to other categories. Ideally, you will have Behaviour Support funding for Positive Behaviour Support, which is especially important if you have Restrictive Practices in place.
In your NDIS Plan, Behaviour Support funds may appear as 'CB Relationships'. The relevant line items for billing these funds are listed above:
-
Behaviour support assessments
Behaviour support plans that aim to reduce and manage behaviours of concern
Training and monitoring staff who are using a behaviour support plan
Positive behaviour support training for a family member, friend or carer
Interim behaviour support plans.
Restrictive Practice Assessments
Evidence-based data collection and analysis
1:1 Educational Therapeutic work with the participant and their supporters
Collaboration with other professionals, therapists and service providers.
Report writing
Every behaviour has a purpose and is a way of communicating a message.
You might use certain behaviours, for example, to communicate what you want, a need that’s not being met or something you want changed in your environment.
Sometimes, these behaviours can cause harm to you or others and impact your quality of life. They may be referred to as behaviours of concern.
If you need behaviour support because of your disability, the NDIS may fund behaviour support for you.
Behaviour support aims to understand the reasons for your behaviour and implement positive strategies. These strategies will help you and the people who support you know your needs and find more effective ways to support you.
Your Soulvable Moments behaviour support practitioner will work with you, your family, carers, providers, and support workers to develop a behaviour support plan that:
meets your needs
respects your dignity
Improves your quality of life.
Works towards learning to apply Functionally Equivalent Replacement Behaviours (FERBS) to replace Behaviours of Concern.
